Bodybuilding helps build self-confidence



One of the best ways to build confidence in yourself is to get into bodybuilding. Bodybuilding is a very concentrated sport that requires a lot of self discipline and dedication. Although, it can be difficult, as well as time consuming, the rewards from all of the hard work spent in training is phenomenal.

Bodybuilding is a very fascinating sport in that it requires you to get in touch with every aspect of who you are. To do this, a bodybuilder has to be focused and really in tuned to what works for his or her body. Since everyone is different, their body's response to training will also be different. Therefore, each person has to understand which methods produce the best results.

Developing confidence through bodybuilding not only works in the gym, but it also translates through every aspect of your life. As you become more sure of who you are and how strong you feel inside and out, you begin to carry yourself with a sense of certainty that may have been missing before. Not only do others say good things about you as they may have before, you can now say good things for yourself and truly believe it for yourself and that is the greatest transformation confidence can bring.



Bodybuilders, like individuals with anorexia nervosa, paradoxically display a high degree of confidence when in reality their self-esteem tends to be low. Men may be drawn to bodybuilding during their adolescent years as a result of feeling weak and helpless. "On the back pages of comic books, scrawny teens find advertisements for chin-up bars" (Fussell, 1991, p. 19). From these humble beginnings, bodybuilders learn to use their sport for protection creating a facade of invincibility. Klein (1995) acknowledged, in a book devoted to men's health, that "the more insignificant he feels on the inside, the more significant the bodybuilder strives to appear on the outside" (p. 1 14). To compensate for his insecurities, the bodybuilder escalates his weightlifting regime so he can appear more intimidating in a sort of vicious cycle. Likewise, the female with anorexia nervosa starves herself to become life-threateningly thin, but can never be thin enough for herself.

There is no better feeling when you exercise regularly. You feel empowered to take on the world. Bodybuilding is the best way to increase your strength and health. You will be on a natural high all day!

Building self-confidence

Bodybuilding is a great way to increase your self confidence; you feel healthy, look great and prove to yourself that you are in control of your body. Looking in the mirror boosts you confidence each and every time. People will comment on how great you look everywhere you go.
